Established in 1878, THE NORTHWESTERN TERRA COTTA COMPANY, known as NORWETA (nor-WEH-tuh), was once Chicago’s largest manufacturer of architectural terra cotta. AT THIS SITE, the firm produced terra cotta for some of Chicago’s MOST ICONIC BUILDINGS; among them the Civic Opera House, the Chicago Theater and the Wrigley Building. BY REVITALIZING THE NORWETA NAME, we honor the integrity of the company and its seminal role in Chicago’s architectural history. It’s our sincere hope that every detail at Norweta reflects this deep respect for the INGENUITY OF THE PAST AND AN UNBRIDLED EXCITEMENT FOR THE FUTURE
